While you may have heard of Votiva vaginal rejuvenation, you might still be curious if (and how) this treatment can help you.
What is Votiva?
Votiva is a non-surgical device that uses radiofrequency (RF) energy waves to heat and stimulate the cells of the vagina and vulva (external skin) to increase collagen and elastin fiber production. As a result, vaginal moisture, blood flow and elasticity increases.
Votiva improves intimacy issues and works more efficiently than Kegel exercises.
The treatment uses two handheld devices: FormaV, which treats internal vaginal tissue, and FractoraV, which helps to resurface the skin.
Why would a woman undergo a vaginal rejuvenation treatment?
If you’re feeling self-conscious, Votiva vaginal rejuvenation could help restore your confidence. Women who experience discomfort during intercourse no longer suffer from pain after Votiva.
Who is an ideal candidate for vaginal rejuvenation?
Women of all ages seeking a renewed, more youthful vaginal appearance and function will see tremendous improvements after the Votiva treatment. Stress urinary incontinence, which is very common after childbirth, is improved greatly after the first Votiva session. This can be a life-changing procedure for women with menopausal symptoms (because of cancer treatments or a hysterectomy).
Who performs the procedure?
We understand that some women may be a little embarrassed talking to a stranger about sexual relationships and personal health concerns. At our sexual health clinic in Virginia Beach, the Votiva vaginal rejuvenation treatment is performed by our Licensed Master Aesthetician Kaity Collins. Kaity has over three years’ experience in women’s health and treating women with Votiva. She offers complimentary consultations where all of your questions and concerns will be addressed, followed with personalized treatment recommendations.
How long does the treatment take?
The Votiva procedure is a quick, 30-60-minute treatment. Most women opt to come in during their lunch break.
Does the treatment hurt?
The FormaV Votiva treatment is painless. Patients report feeling a warming sensation during the treatment. FractoraV requires a topical anesthetic.
After the treatment, how long should I wait to have sex?
After Votiva vaginal rejuvenation, we recommend abstaining from sexual intercourse for 24 hours.
Does this treatment need to be repeated?
We recommend three sessions of Votiva, spaced 4-6 weeks apart with noted improvement after the first. After the initial series, we recommend a maintenance treatment yearly for optimal results.

While you may have heard of hormone replacement therapy, you might still be curious if (and how) this treatment can help you.
What is Testosterone?
Testosterone is a sex hormone found in all mammals. It is the principle male sex hormone responsible for the development of sex organs and sexual characteristics.
What does Testosterone do?
Hormones are involved in most biological functions, including metabolism, immune function, and sexual reproduction. Testosterone plays a key role in muscle growth, bone density, regulating your sex drive, as well as your overall sense of well-being.
How do I know if my Testosterone levels should be tested?
The symptoms of low Testosterone in men often go untreated and are merely considered the signs of aging. Testosterone levels begin to drop every year starting at age 25. While the debate about “male menopause” rages on, the physical changes caused by reduced testosterone are very real. Lifestyle factors, like chronic illness, stress, and obesity can also contribute to low T.
Symptoms can present as:
- Low libido
- Difficulty with erections
- Inability to focus
- Lack of motivation
- Weight gain
- Trouble sleeping
- Unexplained hair loss
- Prolonged recovery time
- General malaise
Most of these symptoms are easily correctable with hormone replacement therapy.
How are low Testosterone levels tested?
Low Testosterone is known as hypogonadism. The gold standard for testing hormone levels is a blood serum test of Free T. Free T is Testosterone that can enter the body’s cells and do the necessary work that leads to improvement of symptoms. There is no other evaluation that can match the accuracy of a Free T test.
How does Testosterone Replacement Therapy work?
To see if you are a candidate for hormone replacement therapy, you should meet with our Medical Director Dr. Jeffrey Arbuckle to discuss your goals and concerns. Dr. Arbuckle will then order a blood test. After assessing your current hormone levels, he will formulate a personalized treatment plan to improve your Testosterone levels to restore your health and well-being.
At Fountain of You MD in Virginia Beach, we treat low Testosterone with a comprehensive combination of lifestyle changes and high quality, time released intramuscular injections of bioidentical hormones on a weekly or biweekly basis. Bioidentical hormone injections are the most effective method of Testosterone Replacement Therapy. We have not achieved results using transdermal (through the skin) therapy, which is not absorbed well in men, is easily transferable to children and women, and is outrageously expensive. Other clinics often prescribe patches, pellets, or intranasal therapies, all of which can have irritating side effects and highly ineffective absorption.
Vast improvements are typically noted as soon as two months of continuous therapy, but results can vary.
What are the benefits of Testosterone replacement therapy?
Benefits of hormone replacement therapy vary based on pre-therapy symptoms. Usually, patients note:
- Increased energy
- Improved mood
- Increased sex drive
- Weight loss
- Lean muscle mass increased
- Increased bone density
- Increased strength and endurance
- Improved quality of life
If you’re suffering from erectile dysfunction, lack of energy, feelings of anxiety and depression, low sex drive, lack of mental clarity, sleep problems, or weight gain, your Testosterone levels may be unbalanced, and Fountain of You MD in Virginia Beach can help. Replenishing hormone levels is vital to optimize the aging process and restore energy and vigor. Our core belief is that hormone replacement improves health, energy levels, and the general sense of well-being. We understand that by effecting positive changes in body composition, by increasing muscle mass and strength while decreasing fat mass, the quality of life will improve and lead to better overall health

Your first visit with Dr. Arbuckle will include a thorough assessment of your medical history, lifestyle, and overall health. The initial consultation also includes in-office blood work, which is necessary to formulate the proper program for you. This visit usually lasts about an hour and is $99.00.
Cosmetic consultations scheduled with Dr. Arbuckle or Licensed Master Aesthetician, Kaity Collins, are free of charge.
After Dr. Arbuckle has reviewed your lab results, you will be notified personally by him with your treatment plan.
Female patients will have their medication shipped from the pharmacy directly to them. Male patients will have the option to have their medication administered in office, or to self-inject at home.
All patients on bioidentical hormone therapy programs will have in-office follow-ups with Dr. Arbuckle, during which program effects, dosage adjustments, and hormone levels will be assessed and discussed. The frequency of the follow-ups varies and will decrease once hormone levels are optimized.
Vast improvements are noted as soon as two months of continuous therapy, but results can vary. Most patients notice immediate improvement in energy, endurance, sex drive, and quality of life. Improvements in metabolic syndrome, blood sugar control, bone density, lean muscle mass, spatial memory and cognitive impairment continue over time.
Hormone therapy is individualized and patient specific. Many patients choose to stay on therapy indefinitely once levels are optimized.
Your hormone levels will return to pre-therapy levels.
