Dysport® is a neuromodulator (botulinum toxin injection)

To understand how Dysport® works, you must understand dynamic wrinkles, also known as expression lines. Dynamic wrinkles are those that appear when conveying certain emotions, such as the frown lines between the eyebrows and the crow’s feet around the eyes. When you’re young, these wrinkles only appear when you’re actively communicating emotions. But as you grow older, the overuse of these facial muscles leads to the permanent onset of expression lines, making them stay on your face even at rest.

Dysport® is a neuromodulator made of botulinum toxin, the same neurotoxin protein as Botox®. Botulinum toxin type A can essentially block communications between nerve endings and specific facial muscles. When injected into targeted facial muscles, Dysport® can relax the muscles responsible for the onset of your dynamic wrinkles. Over time, the associated expression lines fade away, making your facial skin look smoother and younger. The results appear within a few days and last for several months.
