How Beneficial Are Facials?

Healthy skin is a reflection of overall wellness.

Facials are often looked at as a relaxing indulgence, a special treat. But our skin is the largest organ of the body and deserves to be pampered! Regular facials from a skilled and experienced Licensed Master Aesthetician, like Kaity Collins here at Fountain of You MD in Virginia Beach, can benefit the short-term and long-term health of your skin. Here’s how:

Stress can have an enormous impact on your overall well-being and your skin health. Stress is a negatively contributing factor to skin aging. Facials give you time to de-stress from everyday life, by reducing stress, anxiety, and tension. You’ll leave your facial appointment feeling happy and relaxed.

Those suffering from acne, breakouts, and blemishes understand how frustrating these skin concerns are. They can be painful and can negatively affect your self-confidence. Acne can pop up for a number of reasons: poor diet, hormonal imbalance, stress, hygiene issues, and sometimes the wrong skincare products. Regular facials cleanse and exfoliate your pores, helping your skin stay healthy and clear.

If you’re suffering from poor blood circulation, your skin may appear dull and pale due to lack of nutrients. Facial massages can help circulation improve by increasing your vascular function. A Healthy blood flow can instantly improve your skin.

When skin cells reach the top layer of the skin, they need to be removed so that your skin can absorb topical creams. Exfoliating your skin during a facial triggers cell turnover which helps keep your pores clear and clean. Dermaplaning and chemical peels are most often used by a Licensed Master Aesthetician during a facial.

Signs of aging, like fine lines and wrinkles, are much more pronounced if your skin is not hydrated. Your body (especially your skin) needs water! Thorough hydration, through proper water intake and applying hydrating topicals, ensures moisture retention inside and out.

You and your skin deserve to relax. Regular professional facials will help you look good and feel better! Here at Fountain of You MD in Virginia Beach, our Licensed Master Aesthetician Kaity Collins will create a facial customized to your skin concerns and goals. Vampire Facials

There’s no set-in-stone way to be a vampire, especially with the evil ones.

Let’s talk about this Vampire Facial!

Microneedling with PRP is one of our favorite services due to the amazing results coupled with minimal discomfort and downtime. Anyone needing to improve wrinkles, scars, sun damaged or discolored skin can benefit! The depth of our microneedling device is adjustable from 0.2mm to 2.5mm depending on the necessary level of correction. The tool causes tiny injuries to the skin, allowing the PRP to penetrate deeper. These wounds also stimulate collagen production.

We know first hand that cosmetic procedures (such as hair restoration and skin rejuvenation) using growth factors have amazing outcomes. The Vampire Facial, also known as microneedling with platelet-rich plasma (PRP), surged in popularity after Kim Kardashian braved the procedure on her reality show.

Treatments using PRP are effective in avoiding risky side effects and invasive surgical procedures. PRP offers faster recovery time and supports the body’s natural healing process organically.

The procedure itself is simple:
  • Your blood is drawn by our technician, then placed in a centrifuge where the platelet-rich plasma is separated from the rest of your blood.
  • We apply a topical numbing agent to the treatment areas while the PRP is being prepared.
  • After about 45 mins, your skin is gently cleansed off.
  • The PRP is applied to the skin while the microneedling device is glided over your skin.
  • After the treatment, the remaining PRP is applied to the skin.

Slight redness after the procedure can last for 1-2 days. During this time, use gentle cleansers and moisturizers. More importantly, use sunscreen!  Protecting the skin from harmful UV rays is often overlooked after cosmetic procedures.
This is an actual client selfie minutes after the treatment!

Benefits are noted after about 1 week and continue to improve over several weeks. We recommend this treatment as a series of three, 4-6 weeks apart. Glow on, girl!
